John Reumer, founder of JRT Bulk Haulage of Braemar NSW, sadly passed away on August 21, 2009. John was a well respected and loved character in the transport industry, and a good friend of Richard & Sue Brown of Tefco Trailers. In Tefco’s early beginnings, John was one of the first to purchase a new Tefco Trailer. As much as John offered constructive criticism, this was always followed by ‘it’s a bloody good trailer boy’. We have many fond memories and stories of our association with John, but his innovative thought process is something which should be admired at this time. In the early 90’s experiencing a bad run of rollovers, John approached Richard & Sue asking for a way to design the trailers to avoid this. He wanted to know if there was a way to put ‘the stick out the front’ referring to the hoist. His aim was to eliminate the need for a hoist well so material wouldn’t stick on one side and shift the load. With the assistance of Mick Dudley (now Brisbane Operations Manager) and some challenging geometry John’s idea became a reality, a collaboration that resulted in the very successful Front Mounted Hoist Tip Over Axle Trailer. Today the JRT Bulk Haulage fleet and many other transport operators are still using the Front Mounted Hoist trailer and it is due to John’s search for a more stable tipping process. Richard, Sue and Danny Hogan, Goulburn Branch Manager of Tefco Trailers have continued this collaboration with John’s son John over more recent years, and we are sure John would be proud of the way in which his son is continuing his legacy. John has been a treasured mentor and supporter of Richard & Sue and his loyalty and friendship will be greatly missed. Our thoughts are with his family during this sad time.
